A Gypsy circus

Romani circus tradition exists for hundreds years. Romani troupes has been performing both in Europe and Russia. One of Gypsy circuses, titled Cirque tzigane Romanes, is really famous in France. It works almost twenty years. A founder of the circus is Alexandre Romanes, born in a circus dinasty. His troupe consists of his relatives and other Gypsy actors: a juggler from Bulgaria, a singer from Transilvania, musicians from Romania.

The Romani circus is transportable: a chapiteau marquee, rows of folding chairs, a minimum of properties. The main attraction of shows is Gypsy ambience: the troupe looks like a big nomadic family, musicians play folk Romani melodies, players perform with ethnic clothes on, sometimes jugglers or acrobats dance between main numbers, Gypsy girls and womens are barefoot, with long black hair.
